Biography
New York City's irresistible charm captured John's heart and imagination as a child when he would frequent the city with his parents. And eight years ago, after graduating with his BA in English and Studio Art from Davidson College in North Carolina, Gotham became his home. John started as a sculptor and a painter, and had his first NYC show of his paintings during the Spring of 2004. His love for the creative process has remained steadfast and only the mediums he uses seem to vary. He has always maintained his freelance career as a Graphic Designer, with a brief pause while pursuing his MA in Art and Art Education at Columbia University and teaching Photography and Studio Art. John recently began on another life-long goal this past Fall, and started work on his MFA at the School of Visual Arts' Photography, Video and Related Media Program. His work has been part of a number of group and solo shows over the years. John currently resides on the Southern most tip of Manhattan with his two Whippets.

Artist's Statement
My work often straddles the analytical boundaries. I strive to create a state of manipulated constructs and psychological interplay. I use fragmentation to illustrate both a feeling and a narrative in any of the mediums I work with. The series, Dreamscape, plays on the charge of a single moment, where a hushed atmosphere envelops the subjects.
