Biography
Masataka Suemitsu was born in Beppu, a city in southern Japan. After two years of studying medicine, he could not resist his passion for art. He eventually moved to New York City in 1993 to study Men's and Women's fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). As a visually oriented person, Masataka has always been fascinated with photography and graphic art, and returned to study photography at FIT.

Artist's Statement
Portraiture work has been a central yet wide-ranging focus. It's about reading a story as well as telling one.
